Production is complete. Now it’s on to layout and the printer.
This version has a few fixes plus updates for Android 5.1. Now it’s heading to production.
A large number of changes were made in this version. Many of the changes have to do with supporting the latest version of Android Studio (v1.1) with its new default filenames, UI updates, and changes to the Package view. In addition, dozens of improvements were made based on feedback from our excellent set of technical reviewers. Missing code snippets were supplied, troubleshooting tips for common errors such as getting JDK 7 to work on the Mac were added, navigation was improved, and some advice on automated unit and UI testing with pointers to online resources was written.
This completes the first draft of the book. The new release includes a chapter on publishing to the Google Play Store, plus some fixes reported by readers.
This new release includes a chapter on making your application compatible with various types and sizes of devices. You’ll learn about emulators and alternate resources and about the importance of testing with different screens and versions. It also fixes a few problems discovered by readers (thanks!) and uses a consistent minimum SDK for all examples. The next update will include a chapter on publishing to the Google Play Store.
Initial beta release.
