Historical errata for Confident Ruby

PDF PgPaper PgTypeDescriptionFixed onComments
92TYPO

“An IRC Bot object, as defined by the Cinch [page 0] IRC Framework” contains what looks like a bad link or reference. Or my copy of the PDF is missing page 0.

1TYPO

Most of the PDFs I get from PragProg have a “report erratum” link at the bottom of each page, but I don’t see that link here. Is it AWOL?

1TYPO

The PDF pages are numbered sequentially from 1 and do not match the page numbers printed on each page. For example, page “i” is 1, page “xiv” is 14, and page “1” is 15.

250TYPO

The code example (`filter_through_pipe`) at the top of the page is badly indented.

23TYPO

The word “insuring” should be “ensuring”.

88,89ERROR

Not sure if this is an epub encoding issue or a bug in Apple iBooks, 2 sections of code are not being shown properly. I can only get 1 of them to show at a time by resizing the iBooks window while all other code segments displayed fine so far.

The code segments affected are in and right after the paragraphs below:

“Unfortunately, the calling convention for TrafficLight methods taking a State has only gotten worse:

light = TrafficLight.new
light.change_to(TrafficLight::Caution.new)
light.signal

We decide to improve this with a conversion function.”

ALLTYPO

References to things in the PDF often refer to Page 0. A search for [page 0] in the PDF yields 18 results.

26ERROR

ibook formatting may be broken. Page 26 is empty instead of showing some code. On page 27 there’s a scrollbar box with no content, and the text refers to code that has either been shown out of sequence or is missing.

iBooks version 1.2 (825)

22ERROR

The graphic, location.jpg, is missing from the .mobi version of the ebook
