The extension for the Hibernate mapping file should be ‘.hbm.xml’ and not ‘.hbn.xml’. Also occurs on pages 159(pdf)/165(paper)

Command at top of page should have ‘—no-auto-props’, not ‘—no-autoprops’. (Dave says: this affects the command descriptions in the appendix too)

The book shows chmod g+S /home/svn-repos/db. On some Unix systems, this will be g+t.

The svn4eclipse project is now dead.

58TYPO

Misplaced comma. Last paragraph before 5.2 should read…

…tries username mike; if that’s wrong, jut hit Enter instead…

103TYPO

At the bottom of the page, in the paragraph under “7.3 Multiple Repositories”, “multiple” is misspelled “mutliple” in the second sentence.

61ERROR

At the bottom of the second paragraph the sentence reads:

“Make sure your Unix administrator understands how groups, umasks, and sticky bits need to be set up before proceeding, though.”

I think this should probably read as:

“Make sure your Unix administrator understands how groups, umasks, and setuid (set-user-id-on-execution) and setgid (set-group-id-on-execution) bits need to be set up before proceeding, though.”

Just being a bit pedantic but many people confuse the permission symbols displayed by ls. ‘s’ is used for the setuid and setgid permissions and ‘t’ is used for the sticky bit.

96TYPO

Double negation: “that it hasn’t [not] been added”

115SUGGEST

In the second paragraph, the clash between “a single developer” and “they” feels quite uncomfortable (for me as a non-native English reader). Would it really be politically incorrect to use “she” (or “he”) instead of “they”?

133SUGGEST

Figure 10.1: Shouldn’t the binary file libdatetime.a be stored below the lib/ directory (instead of below vendor/ directly)?

136ERROR

Subversion 1.2.3 (r15833) claims that option “—no-autoprops” should be “—no-auto-props”. First line on page 136.

140ERROR

Subversion 1.2.3 (r15833): Another reference to option “—no-autoprops” should be changed to “—no-auto-props”. Next-to-last line of page.

177ERROR

Subversion 1.2.3, the third: s/autoprops/auto-progs/g in the description of the “svn add” command.

179ERROR

Subversion 1.2.3, at last: s/autoprops/auto-props/g in the description of the “svn import” command.

192TYPO

First line: s/verson/version/

62TYPO

Second line of second paragraph should begin with:
“brings all the files in the directory”

102TYPO

It seems that there is a spurious space character at the end of the first paragraph between the “Figure 8.1” and the full-stop.

162SUGGEST

I had a problem with “Subversion just seems to hang (Windows)”. The problem was that plink.exe was prompting me for input which I could not see when using svn checkout svn+ssh. The key to diagnosing this problem was a solution I found at the link marc.info/?l=subversion-users&m=115427785519509&w=2. Create a plink.bat file, then edit your config file to use plink.bat rather than plink as described on page 60. Plink’s output is then available at c:\\plink.log. This showed me that I had more work to do with Putty and OpenSSH.

-Here’s the contents of plink.bat

date /T >> c:\\plink.log
time /T >> c:\\plink.log
ECHO 0* >> c:\\plink.log
“c:\\\\Program Files\\\\putty\\\\plink.exe” %* 3 >> “c:\\plink.log” 2<&3

s. Previous entry mistakenly submitted as typo, meant to be suggestion. Recommend removing that typo entry, then this p.s. :)
